Trigger Point Therapy for Headaches

This lecture and hands-on course will present AMTA members with an overview of how trigger points are formed and techniques we can employ when encountering them during any massage session. We will look at the anatomy, stressors and pain referal patterns of the some of the more common muscles that cause headaches and learn technique specific to these muscles.
Kristen Curnan, CMT has been a massage therapist and instructor since 1998. She is currently teaching Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Kinesiology, Foundational Massage Techniques, and has also taught the Neuromuscular Therapy program for Cortiva Institute - Somerset School of Massage Therapy.

Participants receive an illustrated workshop manual, peer-reviewed clinical articles by the presenter, tableside instruction and skillful bodywork approaches for sciatica, lateral pelvic tilt, and lower crossed syndromes. Robert King’s Clinical Massage for Low Back Pain training includes functional assessment for postural and phasic muscle imbalance and self-care measures for core stabilization all presented in a positive and supportive environment.  Hands-on skills include myofascial, neuromuscular, and muscle energy techniques along with self-stabilization measures for optimal clinical results.
